I’m calling it now: there’s a strong chance we’ll see an Obama in the White House this coming presidential cycle. After watching the debate between Joe Biden and Donald Trump, it’s hard to believe the Democrats will let Biden continue his campaign. It appears the Democrat establishment is beginning to distance its self from the Biden campaign and calling for him to set aside. Now, the only other strong candidate with a remote chance of beating Trump might be someone “presidential” like Gavin Newsom. How presidential is he? Well, that is yet to be determined though as we know, sometimes the appearance of being presidential is all that matters, yes I am looking at you Mr. Zelenskyy.
But let’s be honest, Newsom can’t do it alone. He would need a running mate with a big name to seal the deal, creating a formidable team. While a Newsom-Obama ticket sounds compelling, it’s unlikely Barack Obama would serve as VP in this instance. This would present some legal challenges, as they would have to try and convince the Supreme Court that the 12th Amendment only refers to an individual who does not meet the standard qualifications to run for presidency. Instead, imagine Michelle Obama running for president with Gavin Newsom as her VP. That combination has a real ring to it: Obama-Newsom 2024. It would seemingly check all the boxes and would more than likely garner enough support from a wide voter base.
Despite Michelle Obama consistently stating she has no plans to run, her popularity and influence keep fueling speculation. A recent poll showed Michelle Obama and Kamala Harris as top contenders for the Democratic nomination if Biden decides not to run (The Politics Watcher) (The Independent). The idea of Michelle Obama running for president resonates with many who believe she possesses the charisma and leadership to challenge Trump and bring progressive change to the White House (The Politics Watcher).
I am feel confident in this moment though, that Donald Trump will be the next president of the United States. Now with that being said, the future is still uncertain and it seems there is more to this and it is slowly starting to be revealed. Heck, at this point I wouldn’t be shocked if there was a Obama Markle campaign in the near future. Either ways, I am fairly certain that there will be an Obama on the ticket.
